§ How It Works

Here is exactly what happens when you ask Dataviz a question — from the moment you type to the moment the answer lands in WhatsApp, Slack, or the web app.

§ 01 — Setup

Connect your database.

One-time setup. Takes about 5 minutes.

→Enter your database credentials. Dataviz connects with read-only access and automatically discovers your schema — every table, column, data type, relationship, and a sample of values.
→Supported: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, SQLite. SSH tunnels for private/VPC databases.
→This schema context is how the system understands your data without you having to explain it every time. It is the foundation that makes every query accurate.
§ 02 — Ask

Ask a question in plain English.

From WhatsApp, Slack, or the Web App. Type it the way you would say it.

§ 03 — Pipeline

Behind the scenes — seven things
happen in seconds.

01Intent classification — your question is rewritten for precision and the intent is classified (aggregation, trend, comparison, root cause, etc.)
02Schema resolution — relevant tables and columns are identified from your specific database schema using the context captured during setup.
03SQL generation — precise SQL is generated using AI trained on your database structure, respecting your dialect (PostgreSQL vs MSSQL vs Snowflake).
043-stage validation — syntax parsing, schema accuracy verification, and execution plan analysis. Up to 3 auto-retries if anything looks wrong.
05Read-only execution — the query runs against your database. Always read-only. Your data is never modified.
06Visualisation selection — results are formatted into the right output: bar chart, line chart, pie chart, metric card, or data table based on what makes sense for your data.
07Confidence scoring + delivery — a deterministic confidence score is calculated from 5 weighted signals, and the answer is delivered to WhatsApp, Slack, or the web app.
